Batman V. Superman cast rumors
If every rumor about 2015’s sequel Batman vs. Superman is true, then it would have to be one of the most jam-packed – and expensive – superhero movies ever made ( is currently the leader of the pack on both points). Amid the white noise of the rumors, we tend to forget that only a few things have been confirmed: Zack Snyder is returning as director, Henry Cavill is returning as Superman, Ben Affleck has been cast as Batman, Gal Gadot will take on the role of Wonder Woman, and a good portion of the film will be shot in Michigan.
Anything else is just conjecture at this point, and there’s plenty to go around: is the John Stewart version of the Green Lantern involved? Will Dwayne Johnson or Denzel Washington play him? Or is Denzel going to play Lex Luthor instead of Bryan Cranston? Or is Joaquin Phoenix playing Lex? There are only so many roles to go around. Oh, and Wonder Woman will NOT be of Kryptonian descent – that was just a rumor based on speculation.
One of the biggest question marks about Batman vs. Superman was the apparent involvement of Jason Momoa, best known for his role as the magnetic Khal Drogo on HBO’s Game of Thrones. The notion of who he would play immediately led to talk of a villain – like Doomsday – or maybe an additional hero – like Martian Manhunter. According to Momoa himself, however, we can forget it.
While speaking to about his upcoming Sundance Channel series The Red Road, Momoa denied that he’s been cast in the superhero extravaganza:
“It’s just rumors. I want to say something amazing, but I can’t comment on rumors. It’s flattering.”
Momoa went on to stress that: “I’m not involved in it.” So how did this rumor start in the first place? The initial report stated only that Momoa was “in talks” for a role. Did the public’s imagination simply catch word of these talks and build it up into something it wasn’t, since it seems like he would be a good fit for something like Batman vs. Superman? According to Momoa:
“Maybe that’s how it came out. Maybe someone said, ‘You should be in this!’ and I said, ‘Yeah that would be great!’ And it just went too far.”
