Metallo Superman Batman Public Enemies

Superman/Batman: Public EnemiesJohn C. McGinley is scrubbing into the world of superheroes with "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, " in which he plays the villainous Metallo. Sure, as a live-action performer, he'd be considerably less threatening than Brian Austin Green's take on the character—but getting in the sound booth as a voice actor is part of the fun for McGinley.

"It's a real treat to collaborate with the creative folks once you get in the booth, " McGinley said about his experience on the upcoming DC Universe animated film. "Ten out of ten times, the people on the other side of the glass know the character better than you are ever going to—they have been working on this for months or years.Superman/Batman: Public Enemies All you can do is try to return serve because you are given all this wonderful, precise direction."

Such precise direction comes in the form of esteemed voice director Andrea Romano, who McGinley has the utmost respect for. In fact, he compared Romano to another director he's worked with in the past: Oliver Stone.

Superman/Batman: Public Enemies"Andrea Romano is not dissimilar to Oliver Stone in a lot of ways, in as much as they're both like a thoroughbred at The Kentucky Derby, " he described. "They both put on creative blinders like a thoroughbred. Oliver and Andrea both put on blinders and invite you into that narrow creative vision which is the perfect division for the piece. So that you don't have to do anything, you don't have to guess. Come right inside here and it is going to be good. When you come in there with Oliver Stone or with Andrea, it is Nirvana. You will now shine."

Superman/Batman: Public EnemiesWith the help of Romano's direction, McGinley's voice will be the one fans hear in connection to the murderous Metallo. The actor expressed his excitement about the role, particularly on his children's behalf.

"My son is old enough to hear and recognize my voice coming out of the characters, but it doesn't resonate with him yet, " McGinley said. "My daughter will, and that is pretty cool. Not necessarily to be a killer robot, but we will see how things evolve."
